Charities
Our Charities Investment Management Service provides both
discretionary and on occasions
advisory services for charities. A significant and growing proportion of the assets managed by the Group are on behalf of charitable organisations. Following the Trustee Act 2000 and, more recently, the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act, trustees have wider powers of investment and a duty of care to obtain and consider proper investment advice. Our services are designed to provide as much comfort as possible for trustees in this increasingly demanding environment.
We have considerable expertise in meeting the individual requirements of charities, e.g. socially responsible investment or income needs. We can advise on the drafting of a Statement of Investment Policy, if required, and provide guidance on setting appropriate performance benchmarks.
The removal of the tax reclamation on UK equity dividends has made it increasingly difficult for charitable funds to meet their income requirements. We are aware of the need for specialist advice on ways to minimise the impact of this reduction in income. We also provide a comprehensive
administration service
that removes the burden from trustees, including custody and reporting. This specialist service is designed to ensure that we give meticulous attention to the trustees’ requirements.
